Interviews & A funeral

Interviews with President & Sister Weaver & Cliff's Funeral

Hi Mom & Dad,

That makes me so happy that you guys went out for dinner haha!  See the blessings that come when you are obedient to what your missionary son says?  I knew by the way that Elder Geddes talked about his parents that you would get along great.  Him and I get along great as well and our personalities are really similar in a lot of ways.  We just get each other.

(We had the opportunity to go out to dinner and meet Elder Geddes' parents on Saturday.  THEY ARE AWESOME!!  We had the BEST time and had so much fun talking about our boys!)

This week was just an average week for the most part but we did have interviews!  I love interviews so much because President and Sister Weaver are just the best and I always learn something profound from them.

I will share a little bit with you.  I asked Sister Weaver what I could do to be a better leader.  She opened up her PMG and turned to the Christlike Attributes part about hope.  She read it to me and explained that when you have those qualities of hope that people will want to follow your lead.  I decided to do a study of hope the other day.  I don't have my notes on me but what I feel hope is is the attitude that comes when you have faith.  I came up with kind of a funny little formula but basically it starts with "little h" hope, which is a desire "I hope it doesn't rain today."  That hope causes you to "try the experiment"(alma 32) and give Gods promises a test.  Whatever that might be whether it be tithing, the Book of Mormon whatever.  Then God gives you evidence through blessings.  This evidence brings an assurance, which increases your faith (Hebrews 11:1).  This increased faith gives you a more sure, "Big H", Hope.  That Hope is an assurance that God will fulfill his promises and brings the attitude described in Preach My Gospel where it talks about hope.  Hope is a beautiful thing.

This Morning, Tuesday the 21st of January, we had the opportunity to sing at Clifton Russell's funeral.  The entire Tacoma East Zone and the APs were there and we sang Amazing Grace.  It meant a lot to me because I was so close to Clif, at least I feel like I am.  We had about 20 missionaries sing and it was amazing.  I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to meet Clif and hear his testimony.

Yes, the Seahawks are doing awesome this year and it is a huge deal around town!!  (And the State)  Knocking doors Sunday night was awful because we kept interrupting everyone's party, but it was really funny because every time they got a touchdown the whole neighborhood cheered.  I decided to be a Seahawks fan when I came to Washington- just because I don't really care -and I am serving my mission here- and turns out they are tearing it up!

Have a great week!
