I can't believe that it is already September! That is crazy, this transfer is my last general conference on my mission! I have 7 months left and that is not even a lot. I have every intention of making it count, though!
So....transfers...we are both staying again.....
JUST KIDDING!
Walker is leaving and going to Gig Harbor with Elder Poulson and I am getting Elder DeLaigle (Del-A-gul). I don't know a lot about him but he seems like a pretty awesome guy! I think he has been out just a little less than me. I am definitely excited! I am sad to say goodbye to Walker at the same time, of course, but all good things must come to an end. We have transfer meeting today.
So this week we had a really awesome lesson! We met this lady tracting a couple of weeks ago and she let us right in to share our message. Her husband is a state trooper and almost died a while ago. While he was sick and in the hospital a bunch of LDS state troopers that he worked with went to his bed side and prayed for him frequently. He ended up recovering but what their Mormon friends did for them really left an impression in her mind, which is why she wanted to talk to us! We taught her about the restoration and the Book of Mormon and gave her a copy which she said she would read. When we returned for our appointment on Wednesday she was on Jacob chapter 5! That is like 130 pages in! She is loving the Book of Mormon, especially the Isaiah chapters (that is how you know she is elect). She called her Baptist friend and talked to her for 40 minutes about how cool she thought the Book of Mormon was and despite her friends distaste for our religion she listened! We taught her about the Plan of Salvation and you could tell that there were a ton of questions that she had that were answered. She was very interested in baptisms for the dead because her previous husband died and her 10 year old daughter has been worried that her dad won't go to Heaven because he was not baptized. The lesson was filling in those gaps. We have another appointment with her this week and she also should be coming to church.
Moral of the story: the church is true.
I realize now on my mission how much I have taken for granted the knowledge of the restored gospel and the blessings that come from it. I still take it for granted I am sure but I am definitely a lot more thankful now. I know that the fullness of the gospel really has been restored!
So I have a list of all the people that I have seen baptized in the front of my Preach my Gospel. It really humbles me to read over that list and see the awesome people that I have been blessed to teach.
Today my trainer Elder Dylan Anderson is going home. I am really sad about that. He is from Tremonton Utah so maybe you could go to his homecoming or something.
Below is a picture of our zone at zone lunch yesterday.
Love you,
Elder Green
