Letters & Pictures from Elder Green
August 12, 2013
Guess what! I had a baptism on Saturday the 10th. His name is Kris Strayhorn. His wife and 2 of his sons are members. He lost his job and so their family is living in a tent on the property of a friend. Turns out this friend is a member of the church and invited them to come with him. His wife and kids have been inactive for about 3 years or so, she decided that she wanted to go again and Kris came with her. Turns out that he really liked it and wanted to meet with the missionaries to learn more. We taught him about Joseph Smith and the restoration and he kept saying how he felt warm and how he felt different from before. We let him know that that was the spirit. It definitely was too. It was probably the best lesson that I have ever had with somebody. We invited him to be baptized and he responded with and enthusiastic "Yes!" I am so excited for him! He told us that ever since that lesson he and his wife and kids have been so close. The Gospel is uniting them as a family and it is the most amazing thing in the world to watch. He was baptized on Saturday and he was so happy when he came out of the water. I can't explain how much I love being a missionary!!
I am glad to hear that you are loving your calling in the singles ward so much, Dad. I knew that you would because you're a kid at heart. Good luck on your trip to the Grand Canyon and yes I will be praying for you.
That's funny that we were on the blog. Sister Weaver said she wanted us to get a little extra camera time because they were proud of us for our success in Raymond. I got to have an interview with President Weaver this week because he interviews missionaries every other transfer and it was a lot of fun. He is a really knowledgeable guy and really spiritual as well.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. We are hoping to get fed by a part member family on my birthday and then teach the non-member husband a lesson. We told them it was my birthday and they said they would make us a cake! I'm excited.
I keep hearing about other missions getting ipads and stuff but our mission is usually a little behind. This mission is also the most legit so its ok.
I missed you too mom to watch Shark Week. ha ha I knew that it was Shark week because I could hear it in the background of peoples homes as I was knocking doors.
That picture of Zeke is so cute. Kelsey tells me he makes a lot of noise now. Take videos for me!
I hope you have a good week. I love you and miss you but I am loving my mission as well!
Love your son
